Local Action - Chinese Leaders Visit Sustainability Street Villages

December 6th, 2007

Another Sustainability Street Approach (SSA) Village Snap Shot - Chinese Leaders Visits Sumner Estate & East Keilor Sustainability Street Approach (SSA) Villages

Three very senior Chinese visitors, Mr Zhong, Mr Yin and Mr Wang, who are in Australia working with the City Of Melbourne as a part of the Melbourne: Tianjin sister city relationship, asked to meet Sustainability Street Villages, and last Sunday, had afternoon tea twice – with the Sumner Estate Crew and with the mob behind the now legendary East Keilor Sustainability Street community garden.

The three leaders from Tianjin are keen on setting up an SSA Village in the BinHai New Area, near Tianjin. This will be a flagship project of the Chinese Government, and is being built as an eco*sustainability focussed Industrial & Residential Development Zone.
