A local Sustainable Living Festival event, hosted by Transition Port Phillip.

Join us for an afternoon of creative workshops and transform waste into art. Learn how to make preloved PETs – upcycled clothing & jewellery – fused plastic flowers, purses & flags –  knit with plastic yarn (plarn)

Date: Saturday 23 February, 12-4pm.

Outdoor film screening at the Port Phillip EcoCentre – ‘Plasticized’

A documentary about the massive amounts of unseen plastic pollution in our oceans. An immeasurable amount of plastic pollution of all sizes is floating throughout every major ocean in the world. Aboard the research vessel the Sea Dragon, an intrigued cameraman shares his experience following the 5 Gyres Institute across the South Atlantic on the very first expedition studying the alarming amount of oceanic plastic pollution.

This will be an outdoor movie in the EcoCentre gardens. Please bring along something to sit on. BYO snacks.

Peter Hardy from GHD will present on his recent expedition on the 5 Gyres team aboard the Sea Dragon, sailing through remote oceanic areas to study plastic pollution; Elizabeth Kasell, Director of Development from Red Group Holdings will discuss plastic recycling; Tania Crosbie, Director of Sustainability at Work, will give an overview of a recent report on ‘Sustainability in the Workplace’ and; Emily Ballantyne-Brodie, Director of Urban Reforestation, will talk about the Target 3008 project.

To be held on Thursday 25 August, 8:30-10:30am
