Join Port Phillip Urban Fresh Food Network & Transition Town Port Phillip for “Kitchen Symphony”, and take part in the cook up of the season!
We’ll be preparing and sharing a fresh and seasonal, low cost, vegetarian banquet. Other activities include a food swap, garden foraging, composting & food mapping. Bring your surplus homegrown veg, herbs, seeds etc. All cooking abilities welcome!

World Food Day at Port Phillip EcoCentre

Every food has a story. And Melbourne cooks, growers and food advocates will be bringing theirs to the table at the Port Phillip Urban Fresh Food Network’s World Food Day event on Saturday 16 October. This festival style event at the Port Phillip EcoCentre, St Kilda, will feature back to back cooking demonstrations, tastings, edible gardening fun, live music, food talks on topics such as GM, ethical eating and local approaches to food security, topical food screenings, fundraising raffle prizes (in support of CARE Australia) and yummy vegetarian food for sale. CERES Workshops are back for 2009!

Workshops will run from Feb – June 2009, it seems our Autumn workshops are starting to creep over into other seasons! Look out for our new sustainable gardening workshops including garden design, aquatic plants, propagation and seed saving, as well as some new cooking workshops including sacred grains, flatbreads and raw foods. Due to ongoing popularity we are also running more cheesemaking classes in 2009. The new program includes Blue vein cheese making and wash rind cheesemaking amongst the old fav’s Camembert, Fetta, Romano and Mozzarella. Get in early as these book out fast!!!
