Moreland City Council is currently seeking funding to develop a community composting hubs trial project comprising a network of “bring to” composting hubs across Moreland. The hubs will be located in residential streets, apartment blocks and community gardens. The trial stage of the project has the potential to prevent 51 tonnes of food waste from going to landfill and 45.9 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions in its first year.
Council is looking for community groups and residents who would be interested in using their nearest hub for food waste disposal, assisting with compost maintenance and/or being an end user of compost material. Please contact Tammy Sherar for more information: call 8311 4366 or email tsherar@moreland.vic.gov.au

Do you live in the City of Moreland? Moreland City Council is currently developing a community composting project comprising a network of “bring to” composting hubs across Moreland. We envisage that the hubs will be located in residential streets, apartment blocks and community gardens. The trial stage of the project has the potential to prevent 51 tonnes of food waste from going to landfill and 45.9 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions in its first year.
We are looking for community groups and residents who are interested in participating in a variety of ways, such as by hosting a trial site, assisting with compost maintenance and/or being an end user of compost material. For further information, please contact Tammy Sherar on (03) 8311 4366 or tsherar@moreland.vic.gov.au, or visit: http://www.moreland.vic.gov.au/environment-and-waste/rubbish-collection/use-compost-bin.html.
