The Victorian Government has entered into an agreement to undertake a strategic assessment of the proposed expansion of Melbourne’s Urban Growth boundary under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The Government has released a draft report on a Strategic Impact Assessment for this program of proposals.
The Victorian Government is seeking comment on the draft report and each of the individual proposals.
Comments due 17 July.
Notwithstanding the scale and significance of the proposal, the period for public comment is limited to 28 days. See the DSE website for further details. Comments are due by 5 pm on Fri 17 July. Victoria Online also has comprehensive information.
The Environmental Defenders Office is working on a comprehensive analysis of the Strategic Assessment. Environmental Law Online has information for those who wish to scrutinise the proposal and make submissions, and information will be updated as the analysis proceeds.
