The Yarra Sustainability Awards celebrate the Yarra community’s innovative efforts towards environmental sustainability.  Whether it is forward-thinking architectural design that cuts energy use, a scheme to recycle food waste or something you have done in your own home or business, Council wants to hear about it and spread the word.  Categories include environmentally sustainable design, community action, business, home and garden (renters and home owners) and schools and children’s centres.  Winners of the awards will be announced at a celebration at the Richmond Town Hall in June 2011.

To coincide with the call for nominations, a poster exhibition featuring finalists and winners from the 2010 awards will be on display at Richmond Town Hall until 4 February.  The 27 posters on display highlight some of the outstanding environmental initiatives happening in Yarra right now.  To nominate yourself or someone you know, or to find out more about the awards click here.  For the Innovation in Sustainable Design category click here.

Entries close 31 March 2011.
