A Rose

A quick thank you goes a long way sometimes, but is often overlooked on the daily treadmill. This months newsletter is simply to say thanks to the thousands of Victorians who are making the effort to shop at farmers markets these days. An average of 2,500 shoppers are turning up every Saturday morning, in blistering heat and torrential downpours, your support is what makes it all worthwhile. With real rain in the last few weeks, many farmers, who faced with deciding whether to stick it out, are now able to think clearly and asses the situation with a shred of optimism. Coming to farmers markets has helped them to stay in control of their destiny. You have helped make a difference by paying them fair value for their produce and giving them the credit they deserve.

Your feedback is an invaluable source of guidance for us; a genuine Key Performance Indicator, not just an acronym. Even when its critical, your comments are welcome – its an indication to us that you care, rather than just turn your back or swap to the competition label. Please keep it coming! And as for helping us spread the word… where would we be without the continual support of our friends? None of these four markets had any start-up funding or have promotion budgets and each community group has done it on the smell of the proverbial (albeit fresh and peppery, olive) oily rag, were very proud of that. Weve exhausted every favour in this town but its been worth it because of the many, many people who rightly feel a part in creating the story so far.

There you have it; no enticing list of edible spoils this month…you know that June is full of the joys of nourishing winter produce, and well be there whatever the weather. We look forward to seeing you. Dont forget there are 5 Saturdays in June, so no market on the 30th.

THANK YOU – we know we wont change the world, but were sure going to give it a red hot go!
