Sustainability Street (in Partnership with Yarra Valley Water) is now able to participate in the “Yarra Valley Water showerhead exchange program.” This program aims to replace inefficient showerheads with new, more efficient showerheads.
Previously this was done through exchange centres; now each Sustainability Street is able to access this program in the most appropriate manner for their local area. This may include organising swap days, going door to door with existing members, incorporating an exchange into community days or whatever is appropriate for the local group. Each household may swap up to two showerheads (if they produce two old showerheads.)
Naturally there are a few conditions, but nothing too arduous.
You must be an existing Yarra Valley Water customer and produce your latest bill.
It is an exchange not a giveaway so you must bring and swap the old showerhead.
You will need to fill out a form (simple stuff, name, address, customer number, etc)
This is a cheap, simple and effective way to reduce your water use and decrease your greenhouse gas emissions. Remember, it’s not just for Sustainability Streeters. Get your friends and family involved, and talk to them about why it is so important to participate. Education is our best tool and the things we learn from Sustainability Street can be passed on to others. It’s not just about changing showerheads; it’s about changing the culture.
