Tony Adams has been a key artist in the annual 3 day ‘Sustainable Living Festival’ (Federation Square, Melbourne) for the last couple of years. Over this period the conceptual base of this important sculptor has become richer and deeper, making for interesting speculation as to his future work. Much could be and has been said of Adams work , but here I just want to say that this intelligent and sensitive artist is also an amazing person and a pleasure to work with.

The uneasy balance between Adams aesthetic concerns and his ethical position on environmental issues highlights a problem inherent in contemporary arts practice.
The Sustainable Living Festival arts forum ‘Towards a Sustainable Arts Practice’ (Feb 2009)is concerned with just this issue, albeit as part of the larger theme. It would be interesting to hear from artists who have some thoughts on this subject. Ring me at the SLF office 9249 1888.
