Sprout Community Market May 7th – last market til Spring
Posted in Events by Zanni on May 4th, 2009
Sprout Community Garden is a recovery focused program of Mind for people recovering from mental illness, drug and alcohol issues or at risk of homelessness that promotes well-being and community strengthening. Sprout has started a new Community Market – running monthly in 2009 (except winter). The Market has a local and sustainable focus, encouraging local production of arts and crafts, local food production and shopping as well as being a waste free event.
Through supporting recovery, the service provides people with opportunities to develop personal, interpersonal and vocational skills through a range of horticulture and enterprise activities with a sustainable and creative focus.
The market has a variety of stalls (organically grown produce from within 100mi, dried herbs and plants; food & drink; kids activities; crafts and arts) and music and will form an outlet for what is being produced on site, whilst offering stalls to vendors from the wider community – encouraging local community strength, connection and community enterprise with a focus on sustainability.
If you are interested in having a stall, volunteering or selling surplus produce, or just want general information, please contact us on 9484-5565 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
There will be one free community stall each market for local community members to bring down their surplus home produce to sell or swap.
Sprout also has Open Gate each Thursday from 1-4pm for people to come and have a look around – organically grown seedlings, produce and other items will be for sale.
