Friends of the Earth Perry Street Festival

The fabulous Perry St Festival is on again! The event is being held this year on Sunday December 16. We’re looking for volunteers to help out on the day, for donations of cakes or the like for a huge cake stall, donations of clothing and bric-a-brac for a massive jumble sale (a great opportunity to clear out your wardrobe/garage) and crafty types who might like to have a stall to sell their wares. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - Ministerial Reference Council for Climate Change Adaptation

The Victorian Government is calling for expressions of interest for the inaugural appointment of the Chairperson and members of the Ministerial Reference Council for Climate Change Adaptation.

The Reference Council is responsible to the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Gavin Jennings MLC and operates under Ministerial Terms of Reference (attached below). Its primary responsibility is to provide independent advice to the Minister on the broad and strategic issues involved with adaptation to climate change across all of Victoria and in key natural, economic and social sectors.

The Reference Council will advise on research and policy options in relation to climate change across sectors including:
• the range of natural resources
• human health
• business development
• economics and finance
• infrastructure
• urban and regional planning
• social justice and social change.

Apologies from Sustainable Melbourne for the brief hiatus in posts in the last week. Due to technical difficulties encountered while I’ve been away at Conferences, I was unable to update the site like I’m accustomed. I have now returned to the office and am full of new ideas, energy and enthusiasm and am keen to get Sustainable Melbourne to its previous regularly updated glory!
